TV Ads that condone children behaving badly..

Within the past two months we began watching a little television again... the evening news and a few programs on PBS. We are able to receive just two slightly fuzzy channels. We've also once in a while viewed Judge Judy. We did look at a few other programs and were impressed only by their poor quality , poor acting and poor content. However we do enjoy or find many of the advertisements... or are annoyed or concerned by them.. such as those for prescription drugs. What is on my mind, however, at this moment are ads depicting children behaving badly, rudely or in a way that disrespects their parents. The behavior is shown in a way to have it appear cute and acceptable with the children being rewarded or where the behavior is allowed and is not dealt with.

I believe this may be a good case for Judge Judy....

The Joy Of Writing

I would like to recognize all of you who write simply and foremost for the love of writing and the Joy it brings. You may have had no more than a letter to the editor published - or accepted for publication. You may have never been motivated to submit what you compose to a publishing house - and may not want to. Perhaps you simply enjoy the trip along the way and are satisfied to learn something new each day either from the mental process itself or through related research. This makes you a more interesting, more mentally agile and a continually educated individual. If you are reading my web log (blog) it is likely that you have a blog of your own or that you are thinking of starting one.

Keeping a blog can be good motivation to do some warm up writing each day while at the same time sharing useful or just plain interesting thoughts with others. Keeping a blog can help motivate self-discipline and can encourage one to establish and keep to a writing routine.

I have done a lot of writing, some of which has been published, and have yet to earn one cent from it. Which places me in the amateur category. However, it is good to keep in mind what one famous amateur golfer so wisely said when some were urging him to go pro ; in a few clear words he explained that he preferred to remain an amateur ... an amateur plays golf purely for love and appreciation of the game and that is solely why he played. End of discussion.

Worthless Words

Very often, I have seen, that those who tend to do the most talking, using many words, really have the least to say that is worth saying .. and may end up having said very little if anything at all.

Perfect for these times...

My husband and I have just viewed and cried over "I AM DAVID".

This is a perfect movie for the time where we now live.. for many reasons.

And is one that a family can view together.

A good story to be shared around the family camp fire...

Global Warming Mania..

What most concerns me about the idea of 'global' warming is how is it being used to manipulate masses of individuals politically based on fear of something that may possibly happen.

And we are told we should have no choice but to believe its preaching in its entirety.

There may be a grain of truth at it's center.

However, being in the life long habit of looking and thinking for myself I can be called a skeptical atheist when it comes to the religion of golbalwarming.

To know or not to know..

Reading a variety of blogs over time has proven to me that a great many folks think they know what they do not really know.

So much sadness...

Sunshine and rainclouds here this afternoon. Concerned about friends back east in where the spring storm hit so hard.

So much sad news to awaken to yesterday morning from the college in Virginia. I see that our president and his wife attended the convocation. Can't help but think how these are the same age area as many of our young folks being killed, injured and crippled in Iraq.
The words "Jesus Wept" come to mind.
