The Joy Of Writing

I would like to recognize all of you who write simply and foremost for the love of writing and the Joy it brings. You may have had no more than a letter to the editor published - or accepted for publication. You may have never been motivated to submit what you compose to a publishing house - and may not want to. Perhaps you simply enjoy the trip along the way and are satisfied to learn something new each day either from the mental process itself or through related research. This makes you a more interesting, more mentally agile and a continually educated individual. If you are reading my web log (blog) it is likely that you have a blog of your own or that you are thinking of starting one.

Keeping a blog can be good motivation to do some warm up writing each day while at the same time sharing useful or just plain interesting thoughts with others. Keeping a blog can help motivate self-discipline and can encourage one to establish and keep to a writing routine.

I have done a lot of writing, some of which has been published, and have yet to earn one cent from it. Which places me in the amateur category. However, it is good to keep in mind what one famous amateur golfer so wisely said when some were urging him to go pro ; in a few clear words he explained that he preferred to remain an amateur ... an amateur plays golf purely for love and appreciation of the game and that is solely why he played. End of discussion.
